Why I Am Running

I remember graduating from CMR High School almost 10 years ago and hearing so many of my classmates talk about how they "cannot wait to get out of this town." Each year, many of our talented young people leave to seek opportunity out of state or in towns that they think are more exciting, like Missoula and Bozeman.

I am running because I think Great Falls and Montana have a lot to offer, and we need to make sure that our state has a secure future for young families. Montana was recently rated the state with the least affordable housing in the entire country, and young couples feel like they simply cannot afford to live in Montana. I know this because I have personal friends who have left the state for better economic opportunities. To be an enticing place for the people of my generation, we need to have good-paying jobs and affordable housing, along with a quality education and safe communities to raise children.

I decided to run for office so that I can use my legal experience to help cut red tape and burdensome regulations. We need to promote housing development through our state laws and local zoning systems. More housing results in lower prices. If young people can afford to live here, our communities have so much to offer them.

Montana is a safe place to raise a family, with endless outdoor recreation and friendly neighbors. Locals are being priced out, and young talent is fleeing the state to find more affordable options. As a Representative, my top priority will be doing everything in my power to make Montana's economy welcoming to young families.
